The usual suspects
Charging IC failure
iPads share the same family of charging-IC faults as iPhones, and cheap chargers do the same damage. The battery empties and cannot refill — the iPad looks dead.
Shorted power rails
One failed component pulling a rail low stops the whole boot. Bench current measurement points straight at the rail responsible.
Slow liquid creep
iPads live in kitchens and bathrooms. Steam and splashes work in around the edges, and the corrosion shows up as failures weeks later.
Battery and connection faults
A failed battery or a damaged battery connection can mimic a dead board. Cheaper to fix — and the diagnostic distinguishes it before any quote.

Is a dead iPad worth repairing compared to replacing it?
Often yes — iPads are expensive to replace, and many no-power faults are single-component repairs. The £35 diagnostic prices the actual fault so you can compare like for like instead of guessing.
Can you get the data off a dead iPad?
Recovery may be possible, but an intact storage chip alone does not guarantee access. Device security, encryption, board condition and stable operation also matter. Select Data recovery when booking if the files are your priority; the assessment establishes the route and risks before a recovery quote.
My iPad only shows a battery symbol or flickering logo. Is that dead?
It is a power fault presenting slightly earlier in the chain, and it is a good sign — partial life usually means more of the board is healthy. The same diagnostic covers it.
