iPad mini A17 Pro charging intermittently or not at all?

If charging becomes unreliable, note what changed before the battery ran flat. We assess the mini's USB-C connection and power behaviour to establish whether internal repair is needed.

£35
Fixed diagnostic charge

The fixed £35 diagnostic covers the assessment described below and both-way UK tracked shipping. If you approve the repair quote, the fee is deducted from that quote. No repair work starts without your approval.

Identify the A17 Pro mini before ordering parts

The A17 Pro model is often called iPad mini 7, but the full chip name avoids confusion with the earlier mini 6. Tell us whether charging depends on cable position and whether a computer still recognises the iPad. A USB-C port supports several functions; one working connection does not prove that the full charging path is healthy.

For the wider fault pattern, read the iPad diagnostic service. If the files matter more than returning the device to daily use, read about data recovery and select Data recovery when booking.

Clues from the connection

Include the behaviour before the battery became completely flat:

  • Charging only works with the cable held in one position
  • The device connects to a computer but does not gain charge normally
  • Charging stopped after a drop or contamination around the port

What we check on your iPad mini (A17 Pro).

  • Inspect the compact USB-C connection for wear, debris and damage
  • Compare charge acceptance, battery behaviour and computer connection where available
  • Trace board charging faults only after the connection and supply checks

We’ll explain what we find in writing and quote for the work we can offer. Your options depend on the device’s condition, our test results and the parts available.

Protect the device and the data while deciding.

  • Do not wedge or force the cable to hold a connection
  • Include the A17 Pro name or the model identifier from the device records
  • Stop charging and contact support if there is heat, swelling or suspected liquid inside

Tell us what’s happening with your iPad mini (A17 Pro). We’ll assess it at our Tyneside lab for £35 and explain your options before you decide on repair.

The connector is one part of the assessment

An intermittent connection may need different work from a board that cannot manage charging. We confirm the available route and parts before asking you to approve repair. The assessment does not guarantee that one new part will solve every symptom.

iPad mini (A17 Pro) not charging FAQ

Is this the iPad mini 7 service?

This page covers the iPad mini with A17 Pro, also commonly described as mini 7. Include the official chip name or model identifier when booking.

Can it still have a charging fault if a computer detects it?

Yes. Detection and charge acceptance are different observations. Send both details so the assessment can test the relevant functions.

Do you need the charger in the parcel?

Describe the charger and cable first. Follow the shipping instructions and include accessories only if support asks for them; an unnecessary accessory can complicate packing.
