iPhone 15 Pro Max stuck at 1% or losing charge while plugged in?

A charging symbol with no useful battery increase deserves a closer look. We assess the connection, battery response and board charging path before recommending a repair.

£35
Fixed diagnostic charge

The fixed £35 diagnostic covers the assessment described below and both-way UK tracked shipping. If you approve the repair quote, the fee is deducted from that quote. No repair work starts without your approval.

Separate a charging connection from stored battery charge

The 15 Pro Max uses USB-C. A cable can be detected while another part of the charging path prevents a useful battery increase. Include whether the percentage stays at 1%, whether the phone shuts down after unplugging and whether another cable changes anything. These observations are more useful than assuming a worn socket.

Check your model: This service covers iPhone 15 Pro Max. Include the full model name; a 15 Pro or standard 15 should not be booked as a Pro Max.

For the wider fault pattern, read the iPhone charging-fault assessment. If the files matter more than returning the device to daily use, read about data recovery and select Data recovery when booking.

Describe the percentage and power behaviour

Useful details include:

  • The battery remains at 1% or another low value while connected
  • The phone recognises the cable but switches off soon after unplugging
  • Charging changed after impact, contamination or previous board work

What we check on your iPhone 15 Pro Max.

  • Inspect USB-C and battery connections and compare suitable charging equipment
  • Check whether input power becomes usable battery charge
  • Assess board charging circuitry if connection and battery checks do not explain the fault

We’ll explain what we find in writing and quote for the work we can offer. Your options depend on the device’s condition, our test results and the parts available.

Why a charging meter alone is not the diagnosis

Input power changes with the charger, battery state, temperature and what the phone is doing. A wattage reading cannot by itself identify a charging IC or prove that the battery stores charge normally. The assessment compares the behaviour before selecting the next check.

Board charging work on an iPhone 15 Pro Max

Our workshop reel follows a phone described as stuck at 1% through board separation and charging-circuit work. The case page includes an actual frame from that repair sequence.

A short edited sequence is not a complete test report. Its measurements are observations from that device, not target readings or proof that another phone has the same failed part.

Read the repair case and its findings

Protect the device and the data while deciding.

  • Write down whether charging is intermittent or consistently stuck
  • Include any battery, USB-C port or board work already attempted
  • Stop further charging if there is unusual heat, swelling or liquid exposure

Tell us what’s happening with your iPhone 15 Pro Max. We’ll assess it at our Tyneside lab for £35 and explain your options before you decide on repair.

The quote depends on the established fault

A port, battery or board fault may require a different repair. Layered-board work also depends on the board's physical condition. We explain the findings and viable route before you approve further work.

iPhone 15 Pro Max not charging / stuck at 1% FAQ

Does being stuck at 1% prove the battery is faulty?

No. It describes the symptom. Battery communication, the connection and charging circuitry may need investigation before a part is recommended.

Will you replace a charging IC as part of the £35 assessment?

The fee covers diagnosis and standard UK tracked shipping. Any proposed component repair is quoted for approval; it is not automatically included in the assessment.

Should I create a separate booking for a data recovery request?

Use the existing booking flow and choose Data recovery if access to files is the main priority. Explain the charging behaviour in the fault description.
