iPhone 16 not charging through USB-C?

If the cable connects but the battery keeps falling, the connector is only one place to investigate. We assess your iPhone 16 charging behaviour and explain whether a cable, port, battery or board fault needs attention.

£35
Fixed diagnostic charge

The fixed £35 diagnostic covers the assessment described below and both-way UK tracked shipping. If you approve the repair quote, the fee is deducted from that quote. No repair work starts without your approval.

Compare cable charging with MagSafe behaviour

The standard iPhone 16 uses USB-C and also supports MagSafe. Tell us if wireless charging still worked when cable charging stopped, or if both failed together. That comparison helps narrow the investigation. A charge limit or a pause near a high battery percentage is a different complaint from a phone that cannot take charge at all.

For the wider fault pattern, read the iPhone charging-fault repair. If the files matter more than returning the device to daily use, read about data recovery and select Data recovery when booking.

Charging symptoms to include in your booking

Describe the battery percentage, the connection and any on-screen message:

  • No charging symbol with a known-good USB-C cable and adapter
  • The connection drops when the cable moves, or only one orientation works
  • MagSafe works but cable charging or computer detection has stopped

What we check on your iPhone 16.

  • Inspect the USB-C socket and connections for physical damage or contamination
  • Compare battery response and charging negotiation using suitable equipment
  • Check the board charging path where the basic connector and battery tests do not explain the fault

We’ll explain what we find in writing and quote for the work we can offer. Your options depend on the device’s condition, our test results and the parts available.

Describe connection and battery behaviour separately

Tell us whether the cable is detected, whether the percentage rises and whether the phone continues running once unplugged. If MagSafe still works, include that too. These are separate observations: one can change while the others remain normal. Avoid buying a port based only on the appearance of a charging symbol.

Why previous battery-connector work matters

Our iPhone 16 workshop sequence documents a damaged battery contact and work to reconstruct it. It provides a concrete reason to include previous screen and battery work in a charging-fault description.

The recorded symptom was loss of power after earlier repair. This is relevant repair history, not proof that an ordinary USB-C charging complaint has the same cause.

Read the repair case and its findings

Protect the device and the data while deciding.

  • If the device is dry, cool and undamaged, try one known-good cable and adapter
  • Record any charge limit, temperature or liquid-detection message
  • Stop charging if there is heat, swelling or suspected liquid exposure; contact support before posting

Tell us what’s happening with your iPhone 16. We’ll assess it at our Tyneside lab for £35 and explain your options before you decide on repair.

The assessment separates a setting from a repair

Slow charging alone does not prove a damaged board. We explain what the tests establish, including whether repair is necessary. If parts or board condition limit the available route, that is included in the findings before you approve work.

iPhone 16 not charging FAQ

Does working MagSafe mean only the USB-C port is faulty?

It helps isolate the symptom, but the socket, its connections and board-side charging circuitry still need checking. Wireless charging alone does not identify the failed part.

My iPhone 16 stops charging at a set percentage. Is that damage?

Check the charging settings and any temperature message first. A configured charge limit is different from an intermittent connection or a battery that never accepts charge.

Can you assess it if another shop has changed the port?

Yes. Include what was replaced and how the symptom changed. Previous work helps us plan connector and board checks; another port replacement is not automatically the next step.
